[PODCAST] #517: Richard Grove – Making A Map

(#SchoolSucksAcrossAmerica - DAY THREE - OCT 17 - HARTFORD, CT)
A rapid-fire, unscripted conversation with my dear friend and mentor Richard Grove. Rich is a forensic historian, film maker and founder of TragedyandHope.com.

Our conversation is built around 2 questions:
- What is your "school sucks" story? In other words, how did you come to realize that your schooling was not an education?
- What actions did you take to solve this problem and become a self-directed learner?

We also discuss his upcoming book about the Rothschilds.

  1. Hi Brett
Do you read these things? Or is it a waste of time to even comment here? Would it be better to send you an e-mail?

My “School Sucks Moment” was when my son developed atopic dermatitis and his dermatologist told me that he couldn’t be having an allergic reaction to what I ate through my breastmilk, but I could see with my own eyes that he broke out in hives every time I nursed him… I then started to research allergies and eczema etc. and quite rapidly my whole belief in the medical system eroded… 10 years later I’m still working on redrawing the map, not really sure what to trust. My own senses are definitely number one on the list of what to trust – and when medical professionals tell me that “it is just placebo” I can’t help but wonder why they haven’t discovered that placebo is the most powerful medicine in the world.

This developed into scepticism towards almost everything – down a few crazy rabbit holes, and back up again… always trying to keep my feet firmly planted in reality.

I really enjoyed this episode with Richard Grove – hope you have an amazing trip!
