127: The Ultimate History Lesson

Today Richard Grove from TragedyandHope.com joins me to discuss his recent film, The Ultimate History Lesson - A Weekend With John Taylor Gatto. From theultimatehistorylesson.com: The Ultimate History Lesson is a 5-hour course, illustrating the cause and effect relationship of how Americans became incoherent, and thus how the American dream has was usurped by an international agenda. 117 (Supplemental): Brett On Porc Therapy With Stephanie Murphy

Porc Therapy is a pro-freedom relationship talk show that takes a unique look at the question of how we can attain the most individual liberty possible, starting with our personal lives and relationships with others. On Porc Therapy, host Stephanie Murphy explores ways to apply voluntaryist or libertarian principles – for example, peace, honesty, respect for natural rights, empathy and compassion, voluntary association, and individual sovereignty – to relationships with friends, loved ones, family, neighbors, coworkers, and more. Stephanie looks at current social norms and traditions through a critical lens, and tries to apply a rational perspective to every subject that is raised on Porc Therapy. The result is a show that is very different from traditional relationship talk shows. ...

112: Guns and Robots – My Trip To Plymouth State College

Today I recap my recent trip to Plymouth State College on Friday, December 9th, 2011. I attended a demonstation organized by two Free-Staters, one former police and another former military, aiming to raise awareness about the illegality of the university's gun prohibition policy. Although the student reaction was mixed, I had several thoughts stemming from my observation of a "silent protest" in favor of the policy, and gun prohibition in general. 111 (School News #7): Community Outraged By Teacher Who Tells Kids the Truth

From the New York Post (which is not a good newspaper): Elementary School Teacher Tells Kids There's No Santa Claus By Todd Venezia and Jennifer Bain Even the Grinch wouldn’t be this mean. A sourpuss teacher in Rockland County ruined Christmas for a class full of second-graders this week, when she told them that there is no Santa Claus during a lesson about the North Pole. The evil educator even told the youngsters — mostly 7- and 8-year-olds — that the presents under their trees were put out by their parents, and not St. Nick. Read More here... Video:

Today we'll discuss sound, the f-word in Christmas songs and a documentary called The Cartel. This film looks at various levels of corruption in the government school system, primarily using New Jersey as a case study. The filmmaker, Bob Bowden supports voucher programs and the expansion of charter schools. Although I have always opposed vouchers as a "solution" to a "problem," the stories in the film got me thinking about this issue in new ways. However, I am still not a proponent of vouchers.
