Podcast #275: A Better State of Mind: Introduction to Meditation

Play

I'd like to get serious about incorporating meditation into my routine, and hopefully many of you are curious as well. I am joined by meditation teacher, Kyle Davis to discuss the basics and some benefits of the practice.

My Questions:
What is meditation?
What are the different techniques?
How can discover which practice is best for me?
General guidelines? Posture, time, eyes, duration
What are the physiological and psychological benefits?
What are the benefits of working with a teacher?

  1. s must say your podcasts keep getting better and better. I have been experimenting with meditation for years now and am loving the direction your podcastS are going. If you haven’t heard of him already, I would recommend reading some of Alan Watts material. He also has some very inspirational audio that would be great for your next meditation podcast! Thanks Brett

  2. Ditto on Alan Watts! It’s funny, Brett has been mentioning everyone in Watts’s circle over the years and I’ve kept waiting for him to discover Watts. Maybe William Burroughs too.

Btw I went the TM route and while the class was a little pricey I was very happy with the result.

  3. Double ditto on Watts! I have read my body weight in books about spirituality and Alan Watts is an excellent author and speaker. His work will always be relevant.
