Wes Bertrand and I begin a series based on Nathaniel Branden's book, Six Pillars of Self-Esteem. Today's show includes an introductory discussion and also covers the Practice of Living Consciously.

6. The Practice of Personal Integrity
Questions to answer in this series:

why is it important?
what can we do to raise self-esteem?
what role do others play in our self-esteem?

-personal stories, struggles
-how to overcome them

Excellent Show. I’ve been following the NVC podcasts and have added Wes to my podcast reader. Looking forward to more!
Hands down the best intro you’ve put together for a podcast. One of my favorite Louis CK clips, and perfect for this subject.
SO GLAD you’re doing a mini-series on this. I have a feeling in a year or two that I’m going to be referring people to SSP’s series as a primer on how to flourish as a human being.
Keep up the great work!

Contains a character, king of a small land, who becomes [it’s been decades, forgive me…] the first man with … not self-awareness… darn, I can’t remember. But it manifests as as desire to escape an ordained fate, to become more. He seems relevant to some questions raised.
It seems as though I may be evolving down the same path as yourself. Every time you produce these personal development podcast, they hit home like no other. Thank you for this series. I finished the Six Pillars of Self Esteem right as episode 2 was released. This content is incredibly timely in our current paradigm. Thanks for it!
Fascinating, and seems it could be a quite helpful, too! (I’ve only heard one of the podcasts in the series as of yet).
My sister is raising her first daughter, who is six years old. I hope she will take as much interest in this series as I have… Not to imply it isn’t useful for me, but rather, I want to share it with everyone I know.
I’m grateful for having stumbled across your podcasts. Thank you
How I wish School Sucks had been around when I was young. I rebelled for many of the reasons talked about in the podcasts. I never understood why I felt like there was something wrong with me, even with many hours of therapy. I could say more but I’m sure other people have written similar stories about growing up in difficult environments that doesn’t allow for self-esteem, growth, & self-actualization.
