  1. Great interview. I’ve been listening for about a year and just finished reading Thaddeus’s book a few weeks ago. I met Bill at Porcfest and told him he should find a way to get on your show and have a chat with Thaddeus. If you get them both on a show, I think it would be a really insightful dissection of recent (last 100 years or so) of history from some pretty different starting points. If you do get them on, in addition to the discussion about WWI that Bill asked to have, I think it would also be interesting to hear about their different views on abolitionism. Bill describes himself as a modern abolitionist (“against all forms of human slavery”) and Thaddeus has some interesting / revisionist views on the motivations of the original abolitionists. Thanks for all you do!

  2. Thanks so much!
My husband and I are home educating,
We initially just pulled our oldest from school in the middle of second grade- we weren’t sure as to all the why’s were we were doing it…we just knew anything was better than what was going on…
I work inside schools a few days a week as a speech therapist and my husband is the primary educator – time wise. So much of what you said rang true for us, as well.
We are, however , at the beginning of this journey.
We use charlotte mason techniques…ambelside online has been great, we cut tv 3 years ago, we don’t have video games, we work in trivium (grammar stage- now), with interest based learning.
But what we found most beneficial form this podcast was this: we are happy to be home educating.
We love it and will never surrender our boys learning…but as we continue on this journey for ourselves…we are at times, too bothered? Upset about how the larger picture will impact our boys.
And your talk on the stoics was – a title golden nugget. Thanks- we will add Stoics and the realm of influence to our zone of focus….just what we were needing to hear!
